Niagara Falls, New York | Thanksgiving

Niagara Falls, New York | Thanksgiving

I’ve been wanting to visit Niagara Falls for a long time and this year I had the chance to go! I was not expecting to be impressed because I’ve been in Iguazú Falls on both sides and it was majestic but I have to admit I was impressed.

Despite the inclemency of the weather, the whole experience was good, from visiting the falls to going around the town of Buffalo.

Niagara city is off-season and on top of everything, it was the thanksgiving weekend, so there were not many people around and the boats to get close to the falls weren’t available which was a bummer but at least we got to experience the nighttime lights over the falls, visit the caves, and go to the gorge.

As usual, I booked a tour via GetYourGuide to be able to cover as much as possible.

This is the tour we chose:

Dining

it wasn’t as easy to find where to eat and it was a holiday weekend so many places were closed. There are a lot of Indian restaurants so we had dinner in two of them; one was the Niagara Curry House, located right in front of the border with Canada, the place is incredibly basic and the appearance was scary but the food was good, they don’t serve alcohol and they don’t play music, the second one we visited was The New Jewel Of India, this one has a better appearance, the food is good, they play ambiance music and they serve wine and beer, hallelujah!

Other cool areas we walked around were Elmwood Village and Downtown Canalside. Elmwood has a fairly vibrant nightlife and Downtown Canalside looks industrial, it kind of reminded me of Dumbo in Brooklyn.

The Fashion

The weather was brutal and since I didn’t know the brand Just Hype naturally I was concerned about depending on their puffer jacket and hoodie to keep myself warm but they didn’t disappoint at all, in the end, I didn’t need the fleece I bought at The North Face to cover myself and another extra jacket I got in Bloomingdales to be safe.
